Ready For The Draft?

Posted by Stickman on 14 Jan 2008 | 136 views

Rep Charles Rangel [D-NY] has written and sponsored a bill in the House to require national service obligations. Everyone between the ages of 18 and 42 (men and women) would be required to perform a two year stint at the will of the federal government to help out with national defense and homeland security. The bill uses the word “induction” rather than “draft”. People can be inducted for a declaration of war, a national emergency, or a congressionally authorized “contingency operation”. Luckily high school students would be able to defer their induction until they get their diploma.
