Webb Won’t Start July 1st

As we noted earlier, Tim Webb has stated that he cannot start the new director’s job until December 31st. This is a far cry from his contracted agreement to start July 1st. The school board has now stated that they would like to meet with Mr. Webb regarding this matter. Tennessee has garnered a huge amount of national press regarding Webb’s/Bredesen’s securing of the “Race To The Top” federal monies for our state. I would imagine most other states would pay lots of money to a director to gain access to that same pot of money. Several other states are reportedly scrambling to rewrite their own rejected grant requests in order to gain access to federal funds. In addition, I would also imagine that educational bodies on a national level would also be interested in gaining the services of a director who secured federal money. After all, only TWO states were given access to this money in the nation, and we are one of those states. It will be very interesting to follow Mr. Webb’s career in the next 12 months.
