Interesting Candidates

I don’t think that Basil Marceaux Sr was a well known 2010 gubernatorial candidate for Governor of Tennessee, but one of his campaign statements on WSMV has definitely gone viral. DC blogger Wonkette has even noticed his candidacy.

Marceaux definitely has an interesting platform. After reading through his web site, you definitely get the impression that the Constitution and stopping slavery at traffic stops are important to him. I realize that traffic stops can be somewhat stressful, but I was not aware that slavery was an issue. He even makes a campaign promise that I think will be a bit difficult to keep.

VOTE FOR ME AND IF I WIN I WILL IMMUNE YOU FROM ALL STATE CRIMES FOR THE REST OF YOU LIFE! (Except violating a citizen rights this would be a special punishment ) Making Tennessee the first state in the United States to actually listen to the U.S.and state Constitution ,and all cities charters

Apparently his son, Basil Marceaux Jr, is also running for office, but he does not show up on the unofficial list of candidates. Marceaux Jr is running for Representative of District 29. His web page also mentions that Marceaux Sr is running for State Senate. (Isn’t that supposed to be Governor?)

Both candidates have the same campaign manager, Alexsis Whitley, and both websites are very simple. I would recommend a spelling and grammar check for future site updates. I wish them well in their attempts to get elected, but I probably won’t be voting for either of them.
