Did We Start Too Soon?

Did we start our school year too soon? That is the question this Fox News report asks. Parents and businesses are reportedly joining together to ask the State Legislature to create a uniform start date to all TN schools, and to push that date back to September. One of the issues cited was the fact that it takes so much money for school systems to cool their schools during August…usually a very hot month historically. This issue is reportedly going to be addressed by the legislature in January. What do you think? Should we push back the school start date until after Labor Day? Or is the concept of a more year round academic environment here to stay?
