According to this news release from The TN Department of Education, Tennessee has joined with 26 other states in obtaining $170M in further “Race to the Top” grant money in order to create a computer based assessment tool. This proposed assessment will be something that all 26 states receiving the grant money will form. These 26 states reportedly education approximately 60% of all students nation wide. The assessment tool will also not be administered just at the end of the year, but rather will be administered in the form of short assessments administered right when the student has been fully taught that standardized goal. So, does this mean we will eventually stop administering the TCAP?
