The Cheatham County Commissioners met and reportedly discussed the following topics:

  • A gun shop on Highway 70 reportedly opened a gun range, and local citizens and businesses were not happy.  The county has reportedly issued a cease and desist order to the business.  The county commission has reportedly vowed to put into place regulations regarding gun ranges operating in the county.
  • No action was taken on a subcommittee’s recommendation against any new school projects, including a new high school for Sycamore.
  • New committee appointments were made after two commissioners resigned from those committees
  • A new property committee was created in order for the county to sell property it has acquired as a result of delinquent taxes.  These properties will reportedly be assessed,  a “fair value” will be assigned, and then the properties will be sold.
