Not only am I the secretary for the Tennessee Transgender Political Coalition I am a Member of Holy Trinity Community church which is a loving, caring church which accepts everyone for who they are.My heart also hurts when something like this happens. Even though there is a project called "It Gets Better", it looks like we all in the LGBT community have a lot of work to do. I do not believe that the school Boards or the school themselves are doing enough to stop this.

My heart is aching for this child's friends and family. My son was friends with her, and trying to explain something like this is a difficult parenting moment. I only hope some sort of healthy dialogue comes out of this tragedy.

Just to clarify and be accurate: It was NOT William Johnson mentioned by Lavender/Horton. It was Tim Williamson. I've observed William Johnson to be nothing but an articulate, rational breath of fresh air. Tim Williamson, however, rarely seems to say much of anything. And from what I observed, seems to be almost always in-line with Proffitt & Michelle Collins vote-wise.

There's the log-jam. The Proffitt/Collins/Williamson vote trifecta seems to be the cause of many an issue in my humble opinion.

And the overall focus is so far removed from being about the children it's almost laughable. If it was about the children... you'd actually see the board members as regular presences in the schools, at their functions and implementing a healthy dialogue with the parents.

There isn't as much as a simple newsletter in place currently.

Until parents take the bold step of seizing (and yes.. I mean SEIZING control) of our county's schools, and closely monitoring those who WE put in charge to administrate the process... this is futile and never-ending conversation.

Watching this playing field is like watching a dysfunctional family on a cheap reality TV show.

I'm very happy to post your comment, Zach, and I'm glad you took the time to do so. I would hope that, in the future, you would please refrain from the usage of foul language. Thanks again for posting, and have a great afternoon. Mary/PeaceMBW
